wild hare

So I got a random wild hare to build myself a chicken coop & get a few chickens. It isn't completely out of the blue -it's long been discussed at Chez Wright, but never with any seriousness or direction. Just something we might someday like to try. But we've got all these Tiny House scraps lying around & there's a spot I've had my eye on that would be perfect. It is situated behind the garage & to date has housed a large, neglected garden bed that would need to be moved to make room (enter M, stage right), but it could be done....

So we did it.

We moved 400 cubic feet of mud on a Saturday (yes, some might have waited for things to dry out around here, but that's not the nature of wild hares -they wait for no one -they just hop right to it, totally, innocently & idiotically heedless), hammered out a frame, cleared the area & are now in the midst of a monster pile of research (what kind of chickens? -what do they eat? -more importantly, how do you keep them from being eaten?). And the best news is that the neighbor "loves chickens," which is great since she's going to have a clear view of them in short order.
