For some strange reason, we'd never hiked this fairly popular trail in all our excursions to the Columbia Gorge. Maybe we overlooked it because it is relatively short compared to some of our more adventurous hikes -a mere 1 mile in and out. But man! -were we missing out! -This fall is magnificent and it drops smack into the middle of a massive, yawning, cavern that was probably cut out over time by even greater waters than these. It was a spectacular site and one I am sure we'll be enjoying time and again. We also took the longer and more secluded trail 5 miles round trip to Dry Creek Falls, which was also quite lovely, although not quite as grand. There was absolutely no one on the trail, however, and it seemed a really great private swimming spot for a hot summer afternoon.
